Thursday talk - Hottest topics on the cocktail circuit
published: Thursday | March 13, 2008

Financial bind

1. Seems like not only did the buying spree come to an end, but a lot of the would-be purchases have now reverted to their original owners because the would-be purchaser could not follow through with financial commitments made, as well as some other undertakings. Sadly, those who were looking to these properties to recoup some of their losses will be definitely left holding the empty bag as the deposits will be forfeited to recoup legal fees and other expenses.

Free Willy sequel

2.They call him 'Free Willy', because of his reputation for hitting on his staffers. Already there have been two out-of-court settlements for harassment; two baby-mothers in their little love nests. And the latest one is demanding no less a settlement - an apartment in her name and a 'pension' fund. Why his employers keep turning a blind eye, is beyond everyone!

Exhibiting bad behaviour

3.All is definitely not well within the artsy organisation. Seems like there are constant fights over titles. In-fighting by those who would really like to control the workings of the entire structure. And bigger fights over whom the organisation should exhibit. Meanwhile, some onlookers are asking what of the many pieces that one former head took to her home for storage during a hurricane? Have they been returned as yet?

Friendly loan

4.The police are now being called in to see if they can assist with the recovery of the $500,000 loan to the friend. Seems that all the promises made to pay up have not been fulfilled, so to bring an end to the sorry matter, the police are being asked to investigate and proffer charges.

Dirt digger

5.The famed Doctor Lady of email notoriety is back at it, and this time she came out swinging harder than before, unearthing a few ghosts many thought had been laid to rest. But many are now saying that the remains she uncovered are more than skeletal, but an entire graveyard, and the kind of information that could only come from an insider.

Termination without pay

6.Some of those made redundant with the winds of change now blowing through some corridors, are yet to be fully paid up for their time and services, and this is months after being terminated.

Bon appétit

7.Some are calling it 'The Easter Feast!'

Girl trouble

8.The ladies man had more than his hands full at the party function the other day, as two of his ladies turned up and insisted on being treated as the main squeeze.

A clear case

9.Have the police questioned the PS. And, if not, why not? Clearly, if nothing else, there's a case here of gross incompetence, and or dereliction of duties!

Courage in a bottle

10.They say the 'Lady', was clearly in a drunken stupor the other night, at the high-priced function, when she sassed the businessman, accusing him of being little more than a wimp for not taking matters in his hand as rumours abound of infidelity between his political partner and one of her colleagues.
