Lloyd Hall, renowned musician, will retire as conductor of the St Andrew Singers, on Good Friday, March 21, at the University Chapel of the West Indies with a Gala Recital of Music.
For over 50 years, Hall has been presenting programmes of classical music both at the St Andrew's Scots Kirk and the University Chapel. He is well known for his children's choirs of massed voices and his schools broadcasting programmes.
The programme on Good Friday will be in two parts. Part one of the Crucifixion of Jesus, abridged, from St Mark's gospel, and part two, an all Schubert programme to commemorate the centenary celebrations of the Associated Board of the Royal School of Music examinations in Jamaica.

On his retirement he was again appointed head of the music department at the Shortwood College, a position he held until 2004.
The all Schubert programme will include the duo piano solo 'Fanatasia in F minor', played by Lloyd Hall and Allison Wallace. The shepherd on the Rock sung by Pauline Forrester-Watson with Rafael Salazar, clarinet, and Lloyd Hall on piano, and the Song of Miriam, sung by Lucette Cargill and the St Andrew St Jude Singers.
Guest conductor will be Albert Shaun Hird of the Jamaica Defence Force who, at present, is the band master of the Jamaica Military Band, having received training at the prestigious Royal Military School of Music, where he graduated with the band master's certificate and the bachelor of music, hons (London).
In all, this recital will be a feast of music marking the final milestone of Hall as a conductor.
