St James cops held in robbery case
published: Monday | March 10, 2008

WESTERN BUREAU:

Three men, two of whom are policemen, are reportedly in custody in connection with a robbery on Gloucester Avenue, Montego Bay, on Saturday.

The two policemen are said to be attached to the St James Police Division.

The cops, who are members of the Island Special Constabulary Force and the Jamaica Constabulary Force, are being held at a location in Kingston. They have not yet been charged.

Police spokesman, Constable Richam Davis, told The Gleaner he could not disclose any information because it might jeopardise the investigation.

"I have been advised by a senior officer that it would not be wise to disclose such information at this point," Constable Davis said. "As you can understand, this case is very sensitive, and if this information is made public now, it could affect our investigations."

The men were arrested in relation to the robbery of a taxi operator and his passengers along Gloucester Avenue in the parish.
