Blake, Russell to head Jamaica squad

WORLD JUNIOR Championships bronze medallist Yohan Blake and Carrie Russell head Jamaica's 70-person Carifta Games squad.

Blake who, like Russell, won bronze at the 2006 World Junior Championships in Beijing, China, is also the national junior record holder over the 100 metres, having set the new mark of 10.11 at last year's Carifta Games in Turks and Caicos.

Ramone McKenzie and Dexter Lee, World Youth champions over 200m and 100m respectively, and Nickel Ashmeade, who won bronze and silver in the 200m and 100m at the World Youth Championships, are also included in the squad.

The team departs Jamaica on March 20 and returns on March 25. The Carifta Games will be held in Basseterre, St. Kitts, from March 22-24.

Jamaica squads: Under-17 girls:

Petra Fanty, Natasha Morrison, Yanique Ellington, Sandrae Farquharson, Shericka Jackson, Ristananna Tracey, Chantal Duncan, Carla Thompson, Samantha Elliott, Danielle Dowie, Petergaye Reid, Chanice Porter, Rochelle Farquharson, Janieve Russell, Shanieka Thomas and Monique Henry.

Under-17 boys:

Earl Lee, Rolando, A-shawni Mitchell, Javere Bell, Nolan Williams, Waquar Dacosta, Dwayne Hibbert, Rogeek Rochester, D'Omar Boyden, Lemmar Wilson, Kevaughn Allen, Jonathan Reid, Carey Gordon, Julian Forte, Rojay Dacres and Rajae Gayle.

Under-20 girls:

Carrie Russell, Jura Levy, Alecia Cutenar, Kayon Robinson, Terri-ann Grant, Natoya Goule, Marvia Lewin, Mackola Joseph, Niesha Morgan, Kimberly Brown, Janelle Gordon, Rosemarie Carty, Shana-Gaye Tracey, Nikita Tracey, Francine Simpson, Yushanni Durrant, Salcia Slack, Genneva Greaves and Candicea Bernard.

Under-20 boys:
