Rain failed to put a damper on a peace march in the Torrington Park, Kingston, area on Saturday as an enthusiastic crowd proceeded through several inner-city communities to protest against violence in Jamaica.

The march is one of the many events that form part of the collaborative effort among community members, the Violence Prevention Alliance and other private organisations.

The procession snaked through the downtown Kingston communities of Hannah Town, Denham Town, Jones Town, Arnett Gardens and Rema.

Milton Tomlinson, organiser of the event, told The Gleaner that Torrington Park has been violence-free for about six months and the march was part of the initiative to help maintain the peace in the community.
