The fourth annual Hats on to Easter - a fund-raiser presented by Innovative Ideas, under the patronage of Ambassador Madge Barrett and dedicated to assisting children at risk - will be held on Sunday, March 16, from 11:00 a.m.-2:30 p.m. in the BNS car park at the corner of Knutsford Boulevard and Tobago Avenue, New Kingston.
Beneficiaries of the 2008 event will be Children First - the St Catherine-based organisation which is the primary recipient of funds from the event each year - and Dare to Care, a Kiwanis Club of New Kingston beneficiary project.
'The best dressed hat'
The event will feature a showing of hats with items from Tajie's Hats & Variety Store and Chapeaux, as well as a total of four competitions that are named for the event's major sponsor - the 'Best Dressed Hat' competition for both women and men and the hilarious 'Reggae Jammin' Hat Model' competitions, in which women and men will employ their best modelling techniques to be among participants taking home prizes donated by organisations such as Body and Soul, Pioneer Manufacturing Co Ltd/Guylian Chocolates/L'Oreal, Rib Kage and Totally Male.
A special feature of the 2008 event will be a Fashion Show - The Green Effect! - which will feature designs by the Emmy Award-winning, multi-talented Kenneth 'K-Bobby' Edgar.
The $1,200 pre-sold ticket price will cover all entertainment, as well as all food and drink. Other participants include sous chef Jacqui Tyson, André Wines; Lascelles Wines, Wisynco, Bank of Nova Scotia, JPS, and Leroy Graham of Power Graphics Studio.
