Applicants interviewed for Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) post

Four of the six applicants for the post of Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) were interviewed on Tuesday by the Public Service Commission (PSC).

They are senior deputy DPP Paula Llewellyn; deputy DPP Lisa Palmer; Resident Magistrate Marlene Malahoo-Forte, and Vinette Graham Allen, a former prosecutor in the office of the DPP in Jamaica and former DPP in Bermuda.

The Gleaner was unable to ascertain whether former deputy DPP Hugh Wildman, who is now legal adviser to the Grenadian Government, and Terrence Williams, a former prosecutor in the Office of the DPP in Jamaica who is now DPP in the British Virgin Islands, were interviewed.Kent Pantry, QC, the director of public prosecutions, who is 60, is retiring at the end of the month.

It is expected that the new DPP will be named by tomorrow.

Former Deputy Solicitor General Douglas Leys, who is the sole applicant for the post of Solicitor General, will be interviewed by the PSC next Wednesday.
