Customers of the National Water Commission (NWC) could be affected by nightly water restrictions because of water supply shortages associated with ongoing drought conditions.
The NWC said that, as of last night, customers served by the Hermitage/Constant Spring system would experience nightly restrictions between 9:00 p.m. and 3:00 a.m.
"These restrictions may be gradually intensified should the situation warrant," the company said yesterday in a press release.
The NWC said the variably dry conditions affecting sections of the island had caused some water supply sources to dwindle or dry up entirely.
The water utility said it is urging customers to continue to conserve on water usage in view of this shortage.
Other areas experiencing severe drought include Clarendon, St Thomas, Portland, sections of St Elizabeth and rural St Andrew.
