IN YOUR NEIGHBOURHOOD: Hot Racing welcome Greater Portmore

Racing United riding on a five-game winning streak welcome Greater Portmore to their Racing playing field in a 3:30 p.m. encounter in the WIHCON-sponsored Portmore Division Two League tomorrow.

In the curtain-raiser at the venue, two shock losers last week, Christian Pen and Daytona, clash at 1:30 p.m.

Last Sunday, Racing United (16) ambushed league leaders Portsmouth (18) 1-0 at Portsmouth, which was just one of many upsets that afternoon. In other games tomorrow, second-place Watson Grove (17) have a chance to take over the lead in the standings when they face Newtown Braeton in a 3:30 p.m feature at Ferdie Neita Park, while at that venue, home team Braeton United play Hellshire United at 1:30 p.m. At Portsmouth, the home side will want to snap a two-game losing streak when they take on bottom club Caymanas Gardens at 1:30 p.m., and two hours later, Caymanas Gardens Site D tackle Portmore Pines.

Four matches on in Super League

Four cross-zone matches are on in the Super Plus-sponsored South Central Confed Super League tomorrow.

Portmore's Naggo Head host Tafari Lion at the Naggo Head playing field, while it's Newland vs Original Hazard at the Racing playing field, Rivoli United vs Hillstars at Rio Cobre Oval and Holland PYC vs Humble Lions at Holland. All games begin at 3:30 p.m.

Meanwhile, the competition has been rocked by the withdrawal of two teams, Los Perfectus of Manchester and Arlington FC of St Catherine.

Big clash in Portmore domino league

As the CTL-sponsored Portmore/St Catherine domino league moves into its 13th round tomorrow with the usual 10 matches, Eradication continue to top the standings following a 300-265 victory over Eagle View in the feature match last Sunday.

Tomorrow, however, Eradication face their stiffest challenge of the season when they oppose the joint second-place team, Caribbean Classic, in an away match at Portmore Lane, starting at 11:30 a.m.

Eradication moved to 56 points from 12 matches at the top of the standings after putting away Eagle View last Sunday while Caribbean Classic drubbed New Look 300-251 in an away match at Lakes Pen to be joint second with Fort International on 52 points from 12 matches.

Completing the top eight in the standings are Ackee Pod with 48 points from 12 matches, defending champions Hurricane and Right Stuff tied with 47 from 12 matches, Eagle View 46 from 12 and Old Harbour United 43 from 12.

Results of last Sunday's matches are as follows: Fort International defeated Village Link 300-277 at Passagefort, Right Stiff stopped Lime Tree 300-288 at Cedar Grove Road, Correctional Services defeated Prozz and Cons 300-265 at Prison Oval, Masterpiece beat Ken's Wildflower 300-264, Old Harbour United beat JUTC 300-257 in Old Harbour, Hurricane clipped High Roller 300-290, Ackee Pod drubbed Seamaster 300-249 and ISCF clipped Marliemount in an exciting countdown at Back Road.

Skittles final tomorrow

Eastern All-Stars and Meadowvale from Portmore will meet in the Jamaica Skittles Federation Pattex Cup final tomorrow afternoon at the Bejon's Sports Bar, Hughenden Plaza, following contrasting semi-final wins last Sunday.

Meadowvale, who have been on a roll over the past six weeks, whipped defending champions Cherry's Strikers 6-2 in the first semi-final at Waltham Strikers Skittles Club, while Eastern All-Stars came back from the jaws of defeat (2-5 down) to clip Dragon at House of Peace, Berwick Road, Whitfield Town to set up tomorrow's showdown.

The action starts at 1:30 p.m. with the third-place play-off between Dragon and Cherry's Strikers, followed by the final and presentation of trophies and prizes.

The winning club will receive $70,000 and the Pattex Trophy while the runners-up will collect $30,000 and a trophy.

Glenmuir, Camperdown take RBTT chess titles

Glenmuir and Camperdown captured the RBTT Rural and Corporate Area Schools chess championship titles at the Courtleigh Hotel last Saturday. In the final of the rural area championship, defending national champions Glenmuir lived up to expectations in registering a comfortable 3-1 win over Montego Bay Community College.

Winning for Glenmuir were national junior champion Onaje La Mont on board one, Mikhail Gillespie on board three and Adrian Allen on board four. Oneil Hall saved MBCC from the whitewash when he defeated Glenmuir's Laurence Davey on board two.

In the Corporate Area championship, Camperdown created a mild upset in dispatching Campion College 3-1 in front of a large audience that filled the Windsor Suite at the Courtleigh Hotel.

Winning for Camperdown were Rayon Walters on board one, Damion Davy on board three and Warren Cornwall on board four. Zachary Ramsay on board two salvaged a point for Campion.

Glenmuir and Camperdown now turn their attention to the National Championship match between both teams today at the RBTT Bank head office in New Kingston.

Business House Cricket presentation

The annual presentation function of the Henriques Board Business House cricket competition is scheduled for Saturday, March 15 at the Knutsford Court Hotel, New Kingston, starting at 7:00 p.m.

Cable & Wireless and St Ann Bauxite shared in winning the major competitions run by the Henriques Cricket Board. These include the Reggae Jammin and Best Dressed limited over competitions.
