Wanted man turns in self
published: Saturday | February 23, 2008

Rasbert Turner, Gleaner Writer

Spanish Town, St Catherine:

A man who the police claim figured prominently in the murders of several persons along St John's Road in St Catherine is now in custody after turning himself in yesterday afternoon.

The man, who goes by the alias 'Black Johncrow', was one of six persons Superintendent of Police Terrence Bent said was wanted for at least four murders in the area. His birth name has been withheld by the police.

About 4 p.m. the man, along with his lawyer Earl Hamilton, turned up at the Spanish Town Police Station. He was placed in custody and was expected to face an identification parade.

Hamilton said Black Johncrow was innocent as he was not in the area when the murders, which occurred earlier this month, took place.

During a recent meeting in the community, Bent asked that all the persons named turn themselves in to the police so they could be interviewed.

Over a five-day period this month, four men were shot and killed in the St John's Road area. No one was previously held for the killings.
