Holmwood, St Jago hold lead

Defending overall champions Holmwood Technical and St Jago High are the respective leaders going into today's final leg of the two-day Boys and Girls Milo Central Champion-ships Track and Field Meet at The G.C. Foster College.

Holmwood lead the girls' standings with 134 points, followed by Edwin Allen (131), Vere Technical (109) and Manchester (95).

St Jago are leading the boys' section with 77.5 points, ahead of Holmwood (35), followed by defending champion Edwin Allen (32) and Manchester (26).

Kemoy Campbell of Bellefield was the most outstanding per-former of the day when he shattered boys' Class One 5000m record, setting a new mark of 14:44.1, which is also well below the record at Boys' Champs, 14.45.2.

Shakeisha Miller of Holm-wood Technical won the girls' shot put open with a throw of 10.12m ahead of Monique Henry of Vere Technical (9.94m) and Manchester's Diana Francis (9.93m).

Kimberley Brown of Man-chester captured the girls' 3000m open in (10:40.88), finishing ahead of her teammate Niesha Morgan (10:41.51) and Holm-wood's Amoya Bailey (10:41.54).

St Jago's Christopher Byfield won the boys' Class Three high jump with a leap of 1.63m ahead of his teammate Jovaune Gordon (1.62m) and Sherwayne Winkle of Edwin Allen (1.49) Sheldon Williams of Holmwood Tech-nical captured the boys' 400m hurdles open in 54.96, seconds ahead of St Jago's Joel Whyte (58.31) and Dalton Palmer of Holmwood (59.61).

Edwin Allen's Ann-marie Duffus won the girls' Class Two long jump with a leap of (5.28m). Vere's Peta-Gay Beckford (5.10m) was second and Sashawna Bennett of Holmwood (4.93m) ended third.
