The sixth annual staging of the UWI/Gatorade Track and Field Invitational takes place today at the National Stadium, with activities scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m.

Some of the schools in the Corporate Area already confirmed for the meet include Jamaica College, Calabar High and Kingston College. Knox College are expected to journey in from central Jamaica, while Ascot and Bridgeport will lead the contingent from St Catherine.

The University of Technology MVP club will also be participating, along with athletes from the G.C. Foster College, Hy-Performance Training, Windalco and the Portmore Athletics Track Club.

The day's events will begin with the women's open 3,000m followed by field events including the boys' and girls' shot put, long jump, discus and high jump. The girls', boys' and men's 800m event is scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m. followed by the 400m and the 4x100m women and men's relay, the women, girl's men and boys 1500m will follow after.

The girls', women's, boys' and men's 100m is scheduled to kick off at 4:15 p.m. followed by the finals of the shot put. The event will culminate with the 4x400m open for men.

Hurdler Brigitte Foster-Hylton will be one of the featured national athletes and decathlete Maurice Smith will be a special honouree.
