Performer of the WEEK - Stunning strike from Strickland
published: Saturday | February 16, 2008

WATERHOUSE STRIKER Leon Strickland proved himself to be a man for the big moment when he netted in the 90th minute to send his former team Arnett Gardens packing and securing a place for the Drewsland outfit in the Western Union KSAFA Jackie Bell final this Sunday.

The last-minute goal, which brought an abrupt end to a rugged battle between the two traditional powerhouse teams in Wednesday's semi-finals, makes Strickland The Gleaner's Performer Of The Week.

Transfer

The 25-year-old striker, who was the top marksman for Arnett last season with 11 goals, left the club for Waterhouse during the January transfer window.

On Wednesday night, alertness in the area allowed the forward to pushed his way past several defenders before blasting a rebounded effort past Arnett keeper Julian McLeish.

Strickland has made one appearance for the Reggae Boyz, making his debut for the national team in November of 2006 in a friendly international against Peru.

Waterhouse play arch-rivals Harbour View in the final of the Western Union Jackie Bell competition at 5:00 p.m. tomorrow at the Harbour View Mini Stadium.
