THE POLICE Service Commission has denied that persons interviewed for the post of police commissioner were subject to polygraph tests. The commission, which appointed Rear Admiral Hardley Lewin to the post in December, addressed the issue in a statement last week."It has been widely stated in the media that all interviewees had been subjected to a polygraph test, but that only the successful candidate had received a negative result thereby implying that the others had failed the test," the statement read. The Police Service Commis-sion said it, therefore, decided to state publicly that:1. No officer in the Jamaica Constabulary Force was subjected to any polygraph or financial tests, and, therefore,2. No officer 'failed' such tests. The commission said that, accordingly, it was unfair and incorrect to draw any inferences or make any speculation regarding the integrity of the relevant members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force on the basis of any alleged failure of such tests.
