LETTER OF THE DAY - Jamaica overrun by domestic terrorists
published: Tuesday | February 12, 2008

THE EDITOR, Sir:

Law-abiding citizens of Jamaica wake up and smell the Blue Mountain Coffee, our country is being terrorised by terrorists, yes terrorists. Let's call them what they are and deal with them accordingly. I am a white American, a US citizen, I am married to a lovely Jamaican woman and we live in Jamaica, which also makes me a Jamaican citizen, of which I am very proud. I love Jamaica and its people who work hard to have a better life.

Jamaica is being overrun by domestic terrorists. Who are these terrorists? They are the criminal scum who prey on the hard-working people of Jamaica, they kill and maim our loved ones, violate our children and shoot the dedicated law enforcement professionals who are fiercely dedicated to protecting us in order to create a better Jamaica. The shooting of a police officer and his church brother in front of a church in St James after attending church is abhorrent and was intended to strike fear into the hearts of the law-abiding Jamaican people. If a law enforcement officer is not safe from these scumbags then how safe are we. We ourselves are brutalised, we imprison ourselves into our homes afraid to go out at night and we are afraid to go to the police because after all if the police aren't safe, how can we be safe, how can they protect us? Religious leaders say we need more prayer. Yes, we do, but we must take action, God can drive a parked car if He wants, but He won't!

We must turn the key, put our foot on the pedal and drive. Church leaders are outraged because they say these terrorists have no respect for human life; DUH, they are terrorists and the only solution is to imprison them. Recently, my wife and I were attacked by two of these terrorists scum, we were beaten and robbed, my wife was raped, so I know first-hand the terror that law-abiding people of Jamaica feel.

Honest police

Well guess what people; it's time to fight back by supporting the honest police who risk their lives and families for us. Report the corrupt police who are also terrorists; report all suspicious activity. If you know someone who is a terrorist, report him/her to the police immediately. Don't protect them because they are family or friends, sooner or later either they or their cronies will end up raping maiming or killing someone you know and love. If the fact that more than 1,500 people were murdered and 20 police officers killed last year is not enough to wake you up, then nothing will. In the state of the US that I come from, if even 1/10th of what happens in Jamaica happened there, the US Federal Government would call in the National Guard to restore order.

I applaud the police and the Jamaican military for their joint Tivoli raid. Unfortunately, Jamaica needs more of this type of action. People of Jamaica, it is your responsibility to take your beautiful country back and make Jamaica a place where hard-working law-abiding citizens can live, prosper, love and raise their families without fear.

I am. etc.,
