The moment I fell in love was ...
published: Monday | February 11, 2008

Praying for me

My gentleman came to visit me and after leading him to the patio, I excused myself to get refreshments. I received a rare phone call from my mom and upon finishing the call, I returned. There he was, in soft earnest prayer, asking the Lord for His daughter's hand in marriage (me) and promising to protect me and my daughter with his life. I fell in love. I knew right there that he was and is the one. We have been married six beautiful years.

January love

It was January 31, 2005, and I heard someone I thought was Jamaican. I don't know if it was love at first sound, but I definitely got it good.

I was doing business in an office when I heard a young man at the other counter asking a question. The voice sounded pleasantly Jamaican - and when you are abroad, you tend to reach out to others like yourself. I went over and asked him if he was Jamaican. He said no, he was Antiguan. We introduced ourselves and as we were parting, he asked me for my phone number. I said no but I was very intrigued. I could not wait to get home to give my sister the low-down. We immediately googled him to check him out.

We have been married for two years and I have an eight-month-old daughter. I was 33 years old when it happened, so falling in love is not only for teenagers.
