Son of gov't whip on marijuana rap
published: Monday | February 11, 2008

HAMILTON, Bermuda (CMC):

The 26-year-old son of government whip Glenn Blakeney is to stand trial for possession of US$5,000 worth of cannabis with intent to supply.

Jahmel Blakeney appeared in Magistrate's Court last Friday when he denied possession of cannabis with intent to supply and a count of simple possession.

Prosecutor Paula Tyndale said Blakeney was discovered with 111 grams of the drug, worth about US$5,000, on January 18 in Pembroke parish.

Blakeney opted for a summary trial at Magistrate's Court and the matter was adjourned until May 12. He was given bail in the sum of $10,000 with one surety.
