How to melt your sweetheart's hardened heart
published: Sunday | February 10, 2008

Paul Messam, Contributor

One day Gary Goodge got a call from a young man named Al Lovelace. He and Gary's daughter, Lilly, had known each other for nearly a year, and they were in love. Lovelace wanted to know if he could marry Lilly. After asking him several questions and getting the responses Gary needed to hear, he gave him his anticipated approval. Then came the BIG surprise.

Gary asked him when he wanted to marry Lilly, and he replied, "In two or three weeks, a few days before Valentine's Day." He confessed, "I love Lilly so much, I want to be with her all the time." But true love calls for action and reaction. Then Lovelace immediately recited these words:

"Look upon your sweetheart's need

Love demands the loving deed

Let your love be love that's true

Prove it by the deeds you do on Valentine's Day and beyond.".

Lovelace further explained that when he solidly and lovingly planted his first kiss on Lilly, there was a special meaning attached to it.

And Lilly said, "I felt it deep down and a special warmth enmeshed my aching heart. That kiss signified the kind of love that cannot be verbally expressed, but can only erupt in a volcanic experience when two attracting lips come into motion."

We can become so emotionally charged by a person that we allow ourselves to be intimate with the person even before realising it. Lovelace said that when he gives his body to Lilly, he is giving her a piece of his soul. "Sexual activity is not the only way to let her know I really love and respect her to the core."

He explained further, "Sharing information, supporting each other's goals, giving of our time and energy without expectations, send a much stronger message than sex; so I usually take quality time to know Lilly and understand what she needs and wants."

Lovelace wants to melt his sweetheart's heart so he has developed Melting Plan, phases one and two.

Lovelace's melting plan could work for you too. Have a happy Valentine's Day.

MELTING PLAN PHASE ONE (leading up to Valentine's Day)

1. A bubble bath every night with different coating of syrup, honey, ice cream, whipped cream, jam and strawberry or cherry jello.

2. Place a cute message in the personal section of the classified ads in The Gleaner, The Sunday Gleaner and the Star.

3. Send a red rose each day leading up to Valentine's Day. For example, Day one send one rose. Day two, make it two roses. Day three - three roses, etc.

4. All her favourite fruits and nuts neatly packaged with her name written all over, and delivered at work at the most effective time of the day.

5. Bake or order a cake with a past picture and a present photo of her with or with both of them.

6. Have dinner out at a place never been before, dressed in like colours, followed by wine and dance. That should be an unforgettable experience.

7. Have a trophy or plaque made and engraved professing his undying love.

Let your love be love that's true Prove it by the deeds you do on Valentine's Day and beyond."

THE MELTING PLAN (Phase two)

1. Create a huge banner with the words beautifully decorated saying 'I love you Lilly, From: Lovelace'. This will be placed in front of her house, apartment, town house or complex for the neighbourhood to see.

2. Arrange for a special friend to sing her favourite song.

3. Organise a special full body massage at the spa for both of them as a couple, so both of them will be relaxed.

4. Create an All About Lilly booklet for her to read and keep for years and years to come. This could highlight all the things he loves or likes about Lilly.

5. Create a scented, decorated love letter listing 100 reasons why she is so loved.

6. Write an interesting story of the growth and development of their relationship; sharing the emotions and the joys which are so treasured.

7. Make adjustments or modifications to any 'bad habit' Lilly has been dying for him to change and rearrange.
