A weekend to remember
published: Friday | February 8, 2008

Daviot Kelly, Staff Reporter

They might hail from different departments of the resort, but the Gran Bahía dancers move in unison during last Saturday's performance at the media weekend.

It's a special anniversary for a special hotel. The management and staff of Gran Bahía Príncipe Jamaica in Runaway Bay, St Ann, hosted a media weekend as part of its first anniversary on February 2 and 3.

Among the activities were a reception, dinner and show for the media and members of the St Ann community who have supported the hotel's efforts. Guests eagerly took in the news of the resort's plans for 2008 and joined in spreading the kudos on the hotel's rapid growth. But it was less talk and more about the fun.

After dinner in The Garden Grill restaurant, guests were hurried onto the Pueblo Principe, the shopping and entertainment nucleus of the five-star resort. The resident band did an entertaining set for the prelude. Models soon burned the runway and choreographed dances kept the temperature high. Upcoming artiste Leroy Bonnick (aka Bionic) also got a nice response.

Outstanding dancers

The best part was that all performers hailed from the hotel's various departments. The entertainment concluded with guests joining the outstanding dancers onstage and showing their own moves. After that, the disco was open for business and guests until well into the morning.

Among the guests were Othneil Lawrence, Marina De Miguel, Neil Bryan, Desreen Williams, Stephen Bethel, Alejandra Basanta, David Deusa, Garwin Davis, Michael Pryce, Janet Fagan, Micheal Anthony Cuffe, Karl McLarty, Roy Sweetland, Mark Thompson, Lorna Lewis, Kerone Barnett, Winford Williams, Fernando and Alfonso Silva, Theo and Sharon Chambers, and Afua Simpson.

Attitude! Gran Bahía has some fine-looking employees and they strut their stuff during the entertainment package.
