65 and full of vibe!
published: Friday | February 8, 2008

Daviot Kelly, Staff Reporter

Glen Christian of Cari-Med fame feeds wife, Marva, a piece of birthday cake.

He may be 65, but Cari-Med head man, Glen Christian, didn't show it last Friday as he celebrated his big day.

'Glen 65 Full of Vibez'could not have been a more appropriate theme as the jolly good fellow doesn't act a day over 18. He jigged and moved in between sips of wine and personally greeted all guests on arrival. Both sides of Lady Musgrave Road where Cari-Med's headquarters are located, were filled with cars, a testament to the popularity of the man.

Every section of the layout was dedicated to the big man, from Glen's Gourmet Kitchen' to 'Glen's Water Hole' for the libations. Band, C-Sharp, paid tribute to both Dennis Brown (whose birthday was also February 1) and Bob Marley. Plus, February being Reggae Month, there was more than enough of that from the band which received great applause.

But it was all about 'Sir Glen' as he thanked the friends and colleagues who had helped him to this point, recalling the early days of Cari-Med before turning it into the mega player it is today. He said that even at the age of 65, he had no intention of retiring. Bad news for his competitors we think.

Among the guests were Gurney and Mavis Beckford, Prudence Kidd-Deans, Dr Christopher Tufton, Monica Cohen, Adrian Robinson, Dr Freddie Clarke, Pat Rousseau, Orville Hutchinson, Chris Serju, Lloyd Distant Sr and wife, Angela, and Colin Campbell.
