Thursday talk - Hottest topics on the cocktail circuit
published: Thursday | January 31, 2008

Testing waters

1. Friends are asking if the one-time, top-class person who keeps turning up at parties is just testing the waters.

'Cash rich'

2. A few new 'cash rich' were out and about, flaunting their wealth at the jazz and blues festival last weekend. And they were loud, too!

Taking blame

3. Some are saying that it is the promoters who should be booed, not the performer.

Tough mistress

4. The story is that the wife was sent to repossess the vehicle. The 'employee', however, was more than your average nine-to-fiver, and pretty much told the wife where to get off. The husband, fearing a confrontation with his former mistress, then called upon a few friends within the security forces to do his dirty work. They left in a hurry when the mistress ripped off her clothing!

Teen favourites

5. His friends are openly expressing their concerns that his love for pre-teen and teenaged girls is likely to end with him in the 'slammer' and causing major embarrassment for those with whom he profiles.

Poor lady

6. What exactly is happening at the University of Technology? Poor Blossom!

'Other' PM

7. Still no offices for the elected one as promised, but the offices for the unelected one are complete and so ostentatious that those closest to the situation have now dubbed the person the 'other Prime Minister'.

Her Majesty's guest

8. He was sent away to further his studies and they thought he was actually in college. They are still getting over the shock of it all as they found out he was actually not in college but a guest of Her Majesty's government for the last two years of his supposed studies.

Late invites

9. Why were the invitations to the event delivered so late?

Why is she back?

10. There were a number of farewell parties in her honour. She then left for 'greener pastures'. Well, it seems that she was back home within 48 hours after her big send-off. The neighbours are snickering. The old boyfriend is quietly beside himself in malicious glee; but nobody knows for sure just why she is back, and why so suddenly.
