World Championships 100 metres gold medallist Veronica Campbell-Brown and world 100 metres record holder Asafa Powell were crowned RJR Sports Foundation's 2007 Sportswoman and Sportsman of the Year at the Jamaica Pegasus hotel last night.

Campbell-Brown won one of the closest 100 metres ever at the World Championships in Osaka, Japan, last year. In addition, she bagged silver medals in the 200m and 4x100m. Powell took bronze in the 100m at the World Championships and silver in the 4x100m. Two weeks later, he lowered his own world record to a fantastic 9.74 seconds, clipping three-hundredths of a second off the old mark.
