EDITORIAL - Illogical airline policy
John Lynch is right - except, perhaps, in the more exceptional and extreme of circumstance. We can't expect our tourists to swim to Jamaica. Neither do we expect them to come by boat; certainly not the stopover variety who find accommodation in hotels. So, as the chairman of the Jamaica Tourist Board says, they come by aeroplane.

The corner is very dark
Storm clouds are gather-ing for 2008. Both the United States and Europe face grave economic upheaval. More of their citizens own their own homes than ever before, and have been treating them like piggy banks because they have shot up in value in a short time. They have, therefore, borrowed loans against these homes, and have been spending the money like there is no tomorrow. (Ritch)

In high school as a 12-year-old, I cheated on a test. While that in itself was immoral, it was more reprehensible because it was a religious studies quiz. Very carefully, I scribbled subtle hints of the Beatitudes. "Blessed are the innovative because they will bandooloo the system." (Taylor)
Seaga and post-Independence governance
Edward Seaga, in his Sunday Gleaner column of January 20, wrote an accurate history of the modus operandi of the security forces in Tivoli Gardens.
