Clansman lieutenant deported
published: Saturday | January 26, 2008

A top lieutenant of the Spanish Town-based, Clansman gang, was on Thursday deported from the United States and handed over to senior detectives. Reports are that he was escorted to the tarmac, at the Norman Manley International Airport by U.S. Immigration Customs Enforcement (ICE) deportation officers.

Head of Operation Kingfish, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Glenmore Hinds, confirmed that Raymond Jackson, a.k.a. 'Renard Harrison', 31, was deported to the island from the United States.

"He is wanted in connection with a number of murders and he is also a suspect in the killings of two policemen, Detective Sergeant Desmond Carter and Corporal Lincoln Parker," said ACP Hinds.

Cop shot and killed

Det. Sgt. Carter, formerly of the Narcotics Division, was shot and killed on May 26 last year in Spanish Town while Cpl. Parker, who was attached to the Special Anti-Crime Task Force was gunned down on April 4, 2007.

He was a patron at a dance that was being held at De La Vega City, Spanish Town.

"He (Jackson) is in custody, but not yet charged. We will be formalising the investigative process, meaning, interviewing and putting him before an identification parade," ACP Hinds disclosed.
