Leaders extend good form
published: Wednesday | January 23, 2008

Meadhaven, Real Mona and Port Royal continue to dominate the Kingston and St. Andrew Football Association (KSAFA)/Victoria Mutual Building Society Super, Major and Syd Bartlett leagues.

Meadhaven registered a 3-0 win over Rockfort to maintain their lead in the Super League, moving to 24 points in the standings.

Second-place Bull Bay were not in action at the weekend, but contrasting results this weekend could see the team from the east taking over the lead should they win and Meadhaven lose.

Duhaney Park also increased their points tally, advancing to eight with a 2-0 victory over Maverley/Hughenden, while Santos defeated Mountain View 2-1 to move into third place on 14 points, one ahead of the Jamaica Defence Force, which inched up to 13 as they drew 0-0 with Police National. Cavalier and Constant Spring drew 1-1 in the league's other game.

Moving closer

In the Major League, Real Mona increased their tally to 22 points and remained at the top of the tables following a 1-1 draw with third-place Rae Town. Liguanea moved closer to taking over the leaders as a 1-0 victory over Central Kingston lifted them to 19.

Seaview Gardens also had a close win, 2-1 over Cooreville Gardens, while Barbican trounced Greenwich Town 5-0.

Brown's Town, who beat the University of Technology 3-1, remain at the bottom of the table on four points.

In Syd Bartlett action, leaders Port Royal beat Allman/Woodford 2-1 and increased their lead to 17 points. Island Special Constabulary Force played to a 1-1 draw with Maxfeild Park and Molynes United drew 0-0 with Pembroke Hall. The game between Meadforest and New Kingston was not played due to the absence of police personnel.
