Arnett Gardens blanked August Town 2-0 in the Cash Plus Premier League (CPPL) game played at Tony Spaulding Complex yesterday.
Arnett Gardens started slowly in the first half but were a force to be reckoned with in the second half. In the 47th minute, substitute Shane Edwards, with his first touch of the ball, netted Arnett's opener.
August Town tried hard to get the equaliser but were reduced to 10 men in the 87th minute when Rohan Reid was given his marching orders by referee Ian Myles. A minute later August Town received another blow when they lost goalkeeper Devon Haughton in the 88th minute to injury.
In time added on, Arnett sealed the game when Leon Strickland scored from inside in the six-yard box.
According to Arnett's coach Jerome Waite, the whole objective of the game was to get the players more focused.
"The players did fairly well. There are still times that they lapsed in concentration but they were able to maintain their composure and it resulted in the counter- attack that resulted in the second goal," he said.
