She was first recognised in 1999 with 'You Got Me'

Jill Scott is a soulful artiste who infuses R&B, soul, jazz and the spoken word.

The Grammy award-winning artiste began her performing career reading her poems at live poetry sessions.

Also an actress and song writer, Scott first gained recognition in 1999 when she made the hit song You Got Me with the band, Roots.

Her debut album, Who is Jill Scott?, was released in 2000.

To date, she has released five albums. Her latest, The Real Thing: Words and Sounds Vol. 3, released in September 2007, features the hit single Hate on Me.
