The 'Guinness Book of World Records' declared her the most successful female music artiste of the 20th century
Diana Ross is considered a musical icon from the '70s. This year, the Air Jamaica Jazz and Blues Festival, to be held on this weekend will feature the diva, herself.
Ross is an American singer, songwriter and Academy Award-nominated actress, whose musical repertoire spans pop, R&B, soul, disco and jazz. She first gained prominence as lead of the successful girl group, The Supremes, before establishing a solo career in 1970. She is one of the most successful female artistes of the rock era, crossing over into film, television and Broadway.
Her 45-year musical career includes albums and singles with sales estimated at more than 100 million copies. The Guinness Book of World Records declared her the most successful female music artiste of the 20th century with a total of 18 American number-one singles: As lead singer of The Supremes and six as a solo artiste.
