Arnett Gardens jumped out of the relegation zone by picking the pockets of new boys St. Georges, to steal a 2-1 win and a valuable three points, from the remaining 33 minutes of last week's abandoned Cash Plus Premier League (CPPL) fixture at Tony Spaulding Sports Complex yesterday.
They climbed above August Town to be third from bottom on 18 points, while St. Georges remained on 26.
The game which began last week had to be abandoned due to an all-island power outage. It was a successful return to the bench of one of the club's most popular coaches in recent times, Jerome Waite.
Waite, who coached the team to back-to-back titles in 2003 and 2004, took over from Max Straw earlier this week and received immediate support from the crowd on hand.
"I have to congratulate the players they lifted up their heads today and that was missing for a long while," said Waite. "I am here to try and save Arnett, I'm from the community and I can't afford to see them go down. I am grateful for this opportunity."
Another return to the Arnett Gardens fold, that of striker Kwame Richardson, proved to be the difference.
Richardson, rumoured to be on his way out of the club, was introduced in the 58th minute, following a declaration that Kevin Wilson, who netted last week, was medically unfit.
