Combined Campuses and Colleges team prepares for Jamaica
published: Thursday | January 10, 2008

Robinson

FAST BOWLER Jowayne Robinson, who narrowly missed selection to the Jamaica team, has been included in the Combined Campuses and Colleges (CCC) squad for their opening match tomorrow against Jamaica at Kensington Park.

Robinson, along with two other Jamaicans - Simon Jackson and Chadwick Walton, arrived in the island on Tuesday from Barbados where they had trial sessions.

The 23-year-old pacer who is in Jamaica's 13-man squad for the Stanford 20/20 is poised to represent two teams in a single season. He is an aggressive batsman, scoring two half centuries in Jamaica's trial matches, which means he could be a threat to his own country.

Team attributes

Walton, Lucas' wicketkeeper/ batsman and Jackson, who plays for Kingston in the local competition, have both, along with Robinson, represented Jamaica at the regional Under-19 level.

The squad will be strengthened by Floyd Reifer, a former West Indies Test player, who has had several successes at this level for Barbados, Shirley Clark, who captained the West Indies Under-19 in 1996 and represented Barbados at the senior level, Romel Currency of Windward Islands, along with Barbadians Jason Parris, Kurt Wilkinson and Jason Bennett.

Squad: Shirley Clarke (captain), Romel Currency, Jason Parris, Floyd Reifer, Chadwick Walton, Kurt Wilkinson, Jowayne Robinson, Jason Bennett, Kevin McLean, Kavesh Kantasingh, Simon Jackson, Nekoli Parris and Jamal Nowell.
