GLASGOW, Scotland (AP):
DUNDEE UNITED beat Hearts 4-1 yesterday in their first Scottish Premier League match since a player died in one of their games.
Three of the day's six SPL matches - including the meeting between fierce Glasgow rivals Celtic and Rangers - were postponed as a mark of respect to Motherwell captain, Phil O'Donnell, who died after collapsing in his team's 5-3 win over Dundee United four days ago.
That left Dundee United's meeting with Hearts as the highest-profile match, and the Terrors' won through a hat-trick by Barry Robson and one goal from Noel Hunt.
Equalised
Hearts had equalised after Robson put the home side ahead, but Marius Zaliukas was then sent off for violent conduct when he conceded a 70th-minute penalty kick that Robson converted.
Hunt made it 3-1 in the 84th with a header and Lee Wallace was ejected in the 87th, leaving Robson to again score from the penalty spot.
Hearts finished with eight men on the field after Michael Stewart was sent off for a second yellow card in injury time.
Dundee United improved to 32 points, three fewer than third-place Motherwell.
Aberdeen also moved up to 32 after a 1-0 win over Inverness Caledonian Thistle, while Falkirk are a point further back in sixth after a 1-0 win at Kilmarnock.
