The St. Elizabeth police were, up to yesterday, yet to charge 33-year-old Angella Reid, who was taken into custody in connection with the death of an 11-year-old boy.
Reid, who is reportedly of unsound mind, was detained last week Sunday after she called the Nain police to report that she had killed Rayon Arnold of Claremont, St. Elizabeth.
The boy's body was found with the head bashed almost a mile from the road about 10:30 p.m. two Saturdays ago.
According to the police, they are waiting on Reid to secure the services of a lawyer before pursuing the matter.
Arnold was sent out by his parents. When he did not return, a search was launched.
It was further reported that the father of the youngster saw Reid along the road and questioned her. But she denied seeing the youth.
Hours later, she allegedly called the Nain Police Station to report that she had killed someone.
When the police arrived in the community, she reportedly led them to the body.
Reid was only recently released from police custody after being arrested for injuring her son and destroying furniture and fixtures in a house in Claremont, the community where she also lives.
In the meantime, the police say formal charges should be laid against Reid before the end of the week, as they are still awaiting a post-mortem to be done on Arnold.
