A CORONER in Vail, Colorado, has ruled that heart failure caused the death of a Jamaican woman at a ski resort in that city last week.
The Associated Press reported that Kara Bettis, coroner for Eagle County, made the announcement Friday.
The Jamaican, 29-year-old Alicia White, worked at the Two Elk Lodge. She reportedly collapsed on December 23 while at the Two Elk Lodge which sits at a of 11,200 feet.
Sheriff's deputies told the AP that efforts to resuscitate her were unsuccessful.
She was pronounced dead shortly after at the Vail Valley Medical Center.
Minister of Labour and Social Security, Pearnel Charles, told The Gleaner last week that Ms. White was not listed on the ministry's database of Jamaicans contracted to work in the United States.
Hundreds of Jamaicans are recruited annually through the Labour Ministry to work in the hospitality industry in the U.S. Others are employed through independent agents.
