It was all sealed with an unbroken ring of love at the wedding ceremony of Paul Johnson and Rushella Lee at the East Queen Street Baptist Church on Saturday, December 22. - photos by Peta-Gaye Clachar/Staff Photographer

'Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue'. That was all Rushella Lee had to complete in The Gleaner's wedding competition. Her prize? Wedding dress and tuxedo rental courtesy of Wedding's by Norma. These were the main ingredients on Saturday, December 22, when she walked down the aisle with her 12-year-old son and took her boyfriend of three years Paul Johnson, as her husband.

The wedding, which was scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m., never got under way until 3:55 p.m., as it was her day and all about her. Her walk down the aisle on the arm of her son Jamacio Smellie was slow and deliberate, giving all who wished the opportunity to snap their own photos of her moment.

When she finally made it to th in front of a small gathering of friends and well-wishers at the East Queen Street Baptist Church, she promised to love and honour her husband in sickness and in health, forsaking all others.

The Journey

The journey to this day began after a chance meeting at her house through a friend. Their relationship slowly progressed. It wasn't instant chemistry, but as they got to know each other, Rushella realised that Paul was loving, caring, considerate and very humorous, the things she loved most about him.

He proposed in April at a family dinner where Rushella got more than she ordered on her plate. Her plate came out with an engagement ring on it. She was 'overjoyed'. So last Saturday, in a sea of turquoise and white, an adamant Rushella Seyany Lee said 'I will' to Paul Antoniel Johnson. Officiating minister was Dr. Roy Henry.

Paul literally swept his wife off her feet as they were pronounced 'husband and wife'.
