Tivoli aiming to crush Rollington
published: Saturday | December 29, 2007

Robert Bailey, Freelance Writer

Defending champion Tivoli Gardens 'A' will meet Rollington Town 'A' in today's feature game of the Jamaica Netball Association/Jamaica National Building Society Open League, at the Leila Robinson Courts, starting at 6:10 p.m.

Also at the same time, Hampshire 'A' will take on Torrington Park 'A', Red Challenge oppose Ocho Rios Magics and Bridgeport 'A' tackle Hellshire United.

Tivoli Gardens have recorded three straight victories and are tied for first place with Hampshire in Group F on nine points, followed by Maxfield Park on seven, Torrington six and Rollington Town three.

Sylvester Campbell, coach of Tivoli Gardens, said he is very optimistic of his team's chances.

Planning to win

"We are very confident because I know the strength of this Rollington Town team and they are also one of the lower level teams in this group," said Campbell, who along with fellow countryman Dalton Hinds, officiated in the final of the World Netball Championship between Australia and New Zealand in Auckland, New Zealand, last month.

"Our plan is to go out there and make sure that we keep on doing what we do best and that is to win every game," added Campbell, who is also the coach of Omega. "This Rollington Town team is not a team that is going to push us to the limit. I think that they will get better match practice from us."

Goal shooter Cleopatra Grant, goal attack Jodi-Ann French and national goal defence Kasey Evering are all expected to lead the West Kingston team's charge.

Rollington Town, which lost their two previous games, will be relying mainly on goal shooter Sade French, goal attack Sasha-Gaye Davis and wing attack Tashai Stewart, to quell the Tivoli onslaught.

In other matches, at 2:00 p.m., Waulgrovians 'B' tackle Millennium Strikers, Tivoli 'B' battle Skibo 'C' and Speg await Up Park Camp.

At 2:50 p.m., Arnett Gardens entertain East Central, Police 'A' aim at Torrington Park 'B' and Greenwich Town meet Whitehorses.

At 3:40 p.m,. Hagley Park await Blades United, Waulgrovians 'A' tackle Eden Strikers 'A', Hampshire 'C' battle Raven 'A' and Omega take on Jetsetters 'B'.

At 4:30 p.m., Windalco oppose Grants Pen Archers, Rollington Town 'B' await Molynes United 'B', Greenwich Town and 'B' tackle Raven 'B'.

At 5:20 p.m., Jamaica Fire Brigade battle Police 'B', Jamalco face Molynes United 'C' and New Kingston Raiders oppose Alpha 'B'. At 7:00 p.m., Alexander Striker aim at the Jamaica Defence Force and Jetsetters 'A' take on Police 'C'.
