The question of Danville Walker's eligibility for the post of director of elections was raised yesterday during the election petition hearing in the Supreme Court involving the West Portland Member of Parliament, Daryl Vaz.

Golding free to select PSC members

A Supreme Court ruling yesterday has cleared the way for Prime Minister Bruce Golding to name new members to the Public Service Commission (PSC). Supreme Court judge Justice Donald McIntosh yesterday refused to grant an extension to Opposition Leader Portia Simpson Miller barring the Prime Minister from naming new members to the PSC.

Four cops charged with teen's murder

Four policemen were yesterday charged with the murder of 19-year-old André Thomas of Grants Pen, St. Andrew, when they appeared in the Half-Way Tree Criminal Court. They are scheduled to reappear in court on January 8.

November bloodiest month

Some 166 persons were killed in the month of November, according to the latest police crime statistics, making the month the bloodiest this year. The figures, which were presented by the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF), represent a 21 per cent increase in the number of killings when compared to the similar period last year.

'Unregistered docs practise at own peril'

Health Minister Rudyard Spencer says doctors who are found to be operating illegally in Jamaica will be taken from the system and prosecuted. Spencer's comments come after concerns raised by the Medical Association of Jamaica (MAJ) that doctors were unlicensed and were therefore operating illegally on the island.

Cops follow lead on missing banker

THE POLICE are seeking the assistance of the public in identifying the man in the photographs above who they believe can provide valuable information that would enable them to locate Michael Campbell.
