Home team Arnett Gardens were a bit lucky to earn a point against Sporting Central Sporting Academy after they came from two goals down to hold the Clarendon-based team 2-2 in Cash Plus Premier League action at Anthony Spaulding Sports Sports Complex yesterday.
Oneke Ford's sixth minute penalty and Sean Coleman's 27th minute strike gave Sporting a healthy 2-0 half-time lead. But, a laid back second half by the visitors saw the 'Junglists' roaring back with a pair of penalty conversions by Leon Strickland. Both teams inched up to 15 points. A handled ball in Sporting's 18-yard box in the 73rd minute saw referee Raymond Bogle pointing to the spot. Coleman instantly pushed the referee and was given marching orders. Stickland coverted the spot kick, giving his team a point.
Kevin Williams coach of Sporting Central thought his team was robbed of victory.
"We were cheated. I believe that the first penalty is a touch and go, but the second penalty was ludicruous," said Williams. "Too often referees make mistakes and cost us three points. I feel so upset and dejected that the youngsters did their honest work and yet they came out with less than three points."
Arnett's coach Max Straw said: "We have to keep working at scoring goals we need to start putting away our chances."
