TIED TEAMS Waterhouse and Seba United played to a pulsating 1-1 draw in their Cash Plus Premier League second-round opener at Drewsland Mini Stadium on Wednesday.

"It's a good result," said Waterhouse coach Wayne Fairclough. "We squandered some goals but ... that's the game of football."

'Close league'

Seba's coach, Theodore Whitmore, whose team moved to 17 points, the same as Waterhouse, noted: "From the Harbour View game this is our first point playing away from home.

"The league is so close, so you can't afford to lose a game. You could be second and lose a game and drop back to sixth," Whitmore said.

Actually, both teams which began the game tied third, dropped a place as St. Georges leap-frogged them into third on 18 points after beating champs Harbour View 2-0. Tivoli's 1-0 win over Village kept them second at 21, while Portmore also took maximum points to advance to 27 points.

Delroy Ellis scored in the 57th minute to give Montego Bay's Seba the lead following a swift counter that gave them a distinct advantage with three against one defender. Kemar James broke flying down the right flank and cut inside, choosing the option of slipping the pass by committed custodian Richard McCallum to Ellis, who turned the ball into the empty goal from near six yards.

Waterhouse equalised with 12 minutes left on the clock through year-to-year ace Kevin Lamey, who curled a free kick from the top of the penalty box that shaved the top of the wall into the far post of Neil Lynch's goal.

High-paced attacking

Both teams hit the goalpost, Ricardo Geddes' shot from an Ellis lay-off hitting the top of the crossbar when his team led 1-0; and Waterhouse's form striker this season, Brian Wollaston, who hit a pass from Damion Powell one-time that was excellently blocked by Lynch, with the game tied and four minutes left on the clock.

Waterhouse got more chances, but Seba made their fair share in a good game of high-paced attacking from start to finish.
