Juniors hunt titles

The champions in the 2007 Petcom Junior Tennis Championships will be decided today beginning at 9:00 a.m. at the Liguanea Club, with seven finals to be contested.

Lawrence Salmon won his semi-final in the boys' 16 and under by default after Donovan Crumbie withdrew. Salmon will face Sheldon McIntosh in the final after the latter beat Josh Lue Yen 6-2, 7-5.

Winfred Winebeer and Matthew Rodriquez will vie for the 18 and under title. Winebeer also won his semi-final by default after Macoy Malcolm pulled out of his match, while Rodriguez defeated Andre Burrell in two sets.

In the boys' 14 and under, Nicholas Chambers beat Brian Yapsam 6-2, 6-2 and will face Ryan Simms in the final after he got by Nicholas Chung 6-4, 6-3. Simon Levy and Eric Delapenha will square-off in the boys' 12 and under final. Levy eased past Alex Anderson 6-4, 6-1 while Daniel Harris pushed Delapenha to the limit before faltering 6-3, 3-6, 7-4.

In the youngest boys' division, Andrew Bicknell and Roger Lyn will contest the boys' 10 and under final. Playing only one set, Bicknell beat Zidan Plummer 8-1 and Lyn beat Simon Hoon 8-2 in the semi-finals.

In the girls' open, Siquena Sinclair defeated Rebecca Levy 8-1 and will face Shantal Blackwood in the final. Blackwood outplayed Monique Hanson 8-5 in their semi-final. Jodi-Ann Brooks and Erica Robertson will play for the Girls' 14 and under title. Brooks beat Alexandra Matalon 6-3, 6-2 and Robertson defeated Michaelann Denton 6-1, 6-3.
