The Editor, Sir:
The people of Temple Hall and Lawrence Tavern are suffering greatly at the hands of bus drivers who operate the 'executive bus service' in these areas.
The executive coasters have their designated routes marked on the front and rear of the buses. However, drivers on the downtown Kingston to Half-Way Tree route or downtown Kingston to Constant Spring routes, throughout the day, often depart from their assigned routes. Drivers on the Lawrence Tavern via Half-Way Tree to downtown Kingston may stay on their designated routes, but since these drivers also choose to ply the downtown to Half-Way Tree route, we now have to pay three bus fares from Half-Way Tree to Lawrence Tavern. It is rather unfair for us to be taking one bus from downtown to Half-Way Tree, and another bus from Half-Way Tree to Constant Spring, and yet another, from Constant Spring to Lawrence Tavern.
Check the system
Franchise holder Ezroy Millwood should check on what is going on to ensure that the buses on the Lawrence Tavern route are sticking to their schedule.
The Jamaica Urban Transit Company also needs to allow more Number 54 buses on the Lawrence Tavern route and Number 52 executive buses to Temple Hall. The system is way too out of control. It is too much pressure for me and others who leave work at 4:00 p.m. to be standing at the bust stop until 10:00 p.m. or 11:00 p.m. to get home.
I am, etc.,
