PNP acting like cry babies
published: Monday | December 17, 2007

THE EDITOR, Sir:

THE NEW political realities certainly give Prime Minister Bruce Golding grounds to be in a political position to shape public appointments. The Opposition had better mature fast to the new political realities, stop crying crocodile tears, and develop coherent short- and long-term strategies if it is to regain any momentum.

I do not believe political battles ought to be fought merely as a matter of course. But, clearly, Prime Minister Golding would be deemed politically impotent if he allowed his angst over the Solicitor General's appointment to go unanswered.

At the same time, given his narrow victory, he is going to have to tone down his rhetoric, and become adept at bargaining and consensus building if he is to govern effectively.

It is going to take serious political maturity for the Opposition to recover from the 'One-two-knockout punches.' So, they better stop crying like babies, grow up, and go do some serious work in the ghetto communities.

I am, etc.,
