Carolyn dacosta - Supervisor and branch manager
published: Monday | December 17, 2007

Carolyn dacosta

Carolyn DaCosta says as a youngster, she was never into the girly stuff. In fact, she describes herself as a tomboy.

Now as an adult, Ms. DaCosta has found herself climbing the corporate ladder in her 12 years at Jamaica Money Market Brokers (JMMB).

"I really enjoy the people I work with ... I've developed lifelong friends there," says the group compliance manager.

Ms. DaCosta has also held the posts of supervisor and branch manager.

A past student of St. Jago High School and the University of the West Indies, Ms. DaCosta fell in love with finance while doing a part-time job at Mutual Security Bank while in university.

A history major at the time, Ms. DaCosta wanted to pursue law, but getting the opportunity to dabble in different aspects of the banking industry, she made the change.

She has since pursued a master's degree in finance from Manchester Business School and is at present completing a diploma in international compliance.

Ms. DaCosta is also committed to her family. She has a close relationship with her two nephews, Craig and Amir, and her niece, Amanda. Raising her 17-year-old nephew since he was three months old has been a blessing, but like any other mother of a teen, she grapples with him splitting his time between school and girls.
