Janet Patrick - Acting Financial Controller
published: Monday | December 17, 2007

Janet Patrick

Janet Patrick is the very definition of a real team player.

As acting financial controller at JMMB, her job does require her to work on average 50 to 60 hours a week, even sometimes on weekends and holidays. But that doesn't bother her.

"I don't mind it at all. I choose to be here. Once there is work to be done, I'm here," she says. Ms. Patrick has been a member of the JMMB family for the past nine years, starting out as chief accountant. She has been acting in her current position since 2006. Crunching numbers seems imprinted in her DNA.

Good with accounts

"I've been good with accounts since inception, I believe. I had to study less to pass accounts than any other subject," she quipped of her alumnus Manchester High School. Ask her what other profession she might have been in and she is stumped as none comes to mind. She was an internal auditor for a time, a job which allowed her the opportunity to move around to different companies. Her role's a little different now, but she still takes the short trip from the head office to the branches to get a feel of what the clients are thinking.

Of JMMB, she says, "I think we give exceptional customer service. We try to go all out for them and I think that's what the customers like about us." So what of the next five years for the St. Elizabeth native and mother of one? "I think I'll still be here. No point in moving on," she chuckles. Especially if you're enjoying it.
