Moral compass?
published: Friday | December 14, 2007

The Editor, Sir:

Who appointed Shirley Richards to be the moral compass for the rest of Jamaica?

I fail to see why she cannot be content with allowing Jamaicans to make up their own minds regarding issues of abortion, sexuality, religion and so forth.

A woman should have the choice in determining whether an abortion is right for her - be it for medical reasons, rape, or socioeconomic circumstances.

Ms. Richard's time might be better spent in urging the Government to charge the dancehall DJs and others for inciting murder, public disorder, etc., when they sing songs that promote violence, the use of narcotics and glorify the gun culture.

I am, etc.,

NATHAN LONG
