Concerns about confidentiality
published: Monday | December 3, 2007

The Editor, Sir:

In response to the 'Corruption vs Confidentiality' letter published in yesterday's Sunday Gleaner, it is interesting to note the biased nature of those comments.

Of course, I support confidentiality as it pertains to banking operations, but I am also concerned when a lawyer uses knowledge he had about the members of a party he once supported to push his agenda for his new party. I am concerned about the client-lawyer relationship as it pertains to this situation of dual citizenship.

Trafigura was entirely dif-ferent, however, and the bank has a responsibility to let everyone know about any underhanded situation in much the same way that they should let the authorities know when drug lords are trying to launder money through their institutions.

I am, etc.,
