Charlene Bruce is committed to work and family and she wears that dedication with pride.
The 35-year-old supervisor at Paymaster wears a ring on her wedding finger, but she isn't married.
"My niece gave it to me, and to be honest, it can't fit on any other finger," she said. From a family of seven siblings, she grew up in Kingston.
With Paymaster since 1999, she came upon the job much in the same way many people do.
"There was a classmate who said she had a cousin working at this Paymaster. It was really the first time I was hearing about it and I said, give me the information," said Ms. Bruce. She started as a customer service representative collecting bills in the Sovereign Centre branch, their first branch. The rest is history.
Eight years later, the customer care supervisor says the best part of the job is serving her company's patrons.
"At the end of the day when they call back and tell you they got through, that can actually make your day."
Currently studying to become a certified accountant, she has no intentions of stopping here.
"If I'm still here next year, which is not far away, I'll move over to accounts and that's where I'll focus on my career path," she said, adding, "I hope to be the chief financial accountant, that's my aim."
Her next stop: Studying business law.
