Hers has been a life of service to others. Jennifer Thompson, a customer sales supervisor at Paymaster, gleams when she tells of her love for her job.
"I can't sit down and watch people waiting. I love to deal with people, love meeting with people," she says in-between serving the senior citizens line of the East Parade branch of Paymaster. When I was at Shoppers Fair in Harbour View, customers would call in and talk about me," she says. This was where she first came into contact with Paymaster. When Shoppers Fair was a subagent of the entity, she was seconded to work with it for a while. After that trial period, she applied for a position on the Paymaster staff and it's been seven years since.
She wasn't always destined for the sales field as she was a part-time teacher at Tacky High in her native St. Mary. But after taking a position at the now defunct H&L Supermarket in Constant Spring, it seems she was bound to continue.
Even though she's supervisor, she doesn't just hand out assignments to the staff at the East Parade branch. She's always there right in the middle of things.
"I do a little of everything, like making lodgements and just taking care of the whole branch. I just try to push things through. We have to get the customers wishes. They are foremost," she reiterates.
