Six years ago, Athinia Campbell returned home from completing her MBA in operations and logistics at Ohio State University on a Fulbright scholarship. About a month later, she began as a contract worker in the information technology department of a relatively young company - Pay-master. A year later she joined the staff as a permanent employee.
"It was a natural progression as I was helping out with things in operations and accounts and didn't feel like just a contract worker," she said.
Campbell is currently the chief project officer, and her responsibilities include monitoring projects that are related to the company's strategic plan and ensuring that they are on track and completed on time. Working for Paymaster has provided Campbell with the challenges to keep her on her toes.
"I like challenges and working through things, and being a relatively young company, we have those. I have had other offers, but those are paper-pushing, which would eventually become boring."
She notes that her job allows her to effectively engage her problem- solving skills, among others. "It enables me to utilise my multifaceted skill such as accounts and operations." She notes that her employer is always thinking up new things so "you never get to the point of boredom".
