Campbell, Goule collect awards for their schools
published: Friday | November 23, 2007

THE CURTAIN came down on the 2007 Foska Oats-sponsored Road Race Grand Prix Series yesterday with the awards ceremony at G.C. Foster College.

Kemoy Campbell of Bellefield and Natoya Goule of Manchester High were the toasts of the morning's activities, which saw the dishing out of $346,000 for the winners.

Overall winner

Campbell won the overall male section with 33 points for which he was presented with $40,000 for his school.

He also won the youth champion prize, this for athletes Under-17 years old, and was given $20,000 for his school.

Goule, who for the first time in four seasons had to settle for the runners-up spot, was given $20,000 and the same amount for topping the youth section category.

Like Campbell, all the proceeds will go to her school.

Edwin Allen's pair of Conroy Crossman, who finished second in both sections behind Campbell, along with Mackola Joseph, who finished third in the women's section and second in the youth category, were presented with cheques totalling $30,000 and $25,000, respectively, for their schools.

Royalty Track Club's Tanice Barnett, who won the women's award, walked away with $40,000 for her efforts. Kirk Brown of Ebony Seek was third in the senior male category and he won $15,000.

Holmwood's Amoya Bailey, who did not score in the first event - Foska Oats 5K - rebounded to finish third in the youth section category and won for her school $5,000.

Andrew Gutzmore of Ebony Seek and Carlene Blagrove took the masters categories, valued at $10,000 each.
