WESTMORELAND:
There was just one 'brow-raiser' on nomination day in Westmoreland on Monday.
The nomination of an independent candidate is a feature uncommon to the parish, but there are persons in the Cornwall Mountain division who believe that Sharlene Lawrence should get a seat in the parish council to have their concerns addressed.
Shortly after the five candidates for the People's National Party were all nominated, a small group of supporters in white shirts with the acronym ICD, meaning Independent Cornwall Mountain division, marched into the nomination zone.
After a short discussion regarding the symbol of a handshake, which they are using, they were allowed to go through with the process but were advised to contact the director of elections concerning the symbol they should use.
